Jewish Life
Jewish life in Oakland is a rich and fulfilling experience for Jews of many different observance levels. Those interested in growing in their observance will find services and life-cycle events that take our timeless traditions and make them accessible to those with limited backgrounds. Those who live observant lives will find daily Minyanim, robust adult education and Shabbat groups for children.
Jewish life is more meaningful in community, and we pride ourselves in our diverse, multi-generational community with programming for our youngest members, as well as the young-at-heart.
An orthodox community thrives with the basic religious infrastructure that makes observant life possible. We are grateful to generations of committed members and leaders of our community who ensured that we have robust Jewish education (Gan Mah Tov and Oakland Hebrew Day School as two shining examples), Mikvaot, kosher establishments, an Eruv, and cemetery. We are poised for continued growth in the years to come, and we look forward to welcoming you to our thriving community in person!
