Rabbi Shua Brick

Rabbi Shua Brick – Director of Family Learning

With gratitude to Chani Naiman for skillfully leading our youth department this past year, we are excited to announce a new role that will be filled by Rabbi Shua Brick. Many of you already know Rav Shua as our talented rabbinic intern from this past year.

We are incredibly excited to announce that Rabbi Brick will be moving to Oakland for a new role at Beth Jacob, in addition to being a Jewish Studies faculty member at Jewish Community High School of the Bay, where he will also facilitate the Mechitza Minyan and join the Student Life Team.

Rabbi Brick’s role at Beth Jacob will involve reimagining youth engagement during this uncertain time, as well as planning for how we can continue to meet the needs of young families in the future. For those of you who loved the adult learning that Rabbi Brick brought to our community – don’t worry. He’ll continue to play an active role in our adult education program as well.

Rabbi Ezra Cohen

We benefited greatly from last year’s experience with Rabbi Shua Brick and look forward to welcoming Ezra Cohen to Beth Jacob as this year’s Rabbinic Intern.

Rabbi Ezra will join our community (either virtually or in real life) for approximately five weekends throughout the coming year, and spend time learning about the community rabbinate from Rabbi Albert. He is a third-year rabbinical student at Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (YU), and has previously served as a rabbinic intern at Congregation Ohr Torah in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a talented educator with a passion for psychology and its relationship with Judaism, and is a close student of Rabbi Judah Dardik.

We look forward to learning from Reb Ezra as he gets to know our community!
