Sun, May 17: The Development of Faith - Please join us for a bagel brunch & seminar. Dr. Josh Gressel offers a fascinating look at the developmental stages of faith. What does it mean to be more religious, more spiritual, or to have more faith? Does it mean that one attends synagogue more often?  Observes more mitzvot? These sorts of methods count what is in many ways intangible, and are so often used as a way to judge oneself or others negatively. This series will explore James Fowler's Stages of Faith. Drawing on the insights from Piaget, Kohlberg and Erikson, Fowler discovered that the majority of chronological adults operate with a faith system appropriate for teenagers. It will then apply Fowler's general principles to the particulars of Judaism. Understanding the full range of the faith develop-mental continuum can help us move into a Jewish system of faith suited to meet the challenges of the adults we are. Time: 9:30 am; Location: Beth Jacob Congregation - Hollander Small Sanctuary

Thurs: Lunchtime Talmud - After so many months of study and discussion, last Thursday the class celebrated the completion of the 5th chapter of Tractate Gittin in Talmud class.  Mazal tov!  .Tractate Megillah.  It has much to do with Purim (familiar and practical material), but gets around a bit and even has a bit of aggadita for Seymour.  If all is going well we'll go through the entire tractate over the coming period of time (I'd guess about 2 years).  If you want to take part in the learning in a regular way, I highly recommend purchasing an Artscroll Talmud Tractate Megillah - it is all in one volume.  If you would like to order through the shul, please let Rabbi Dardik know as soon as possible; We will probably get the best price around.
Time: noon;  Location: home of Michael & Deborah Sosebee, 701 Trestle Glen Rd(corner of Brookwood)
